Yoga 101

Helen is a Yoga International certified teacher with a lot of experience in hatha, vinyasa, and other styles.

If you want to try yoga, she suggests that you read about it, too. The physical practice is known as "asana," or postures, and it's not all that there is to yoga.

Helen recommends the books The Truth of Yoga by Daniel Simpson, Skill in Action by Michelle Cassandra Johnson, and Yoga and Veganism by Sharon Gannon. She also recommends the podcast Yoga is Vegan with Holly Skodis. Helen is a vegan animal advocate and you may find her helping out at a local animal sanctuary. To Helen and many other yogis, "ahimsa" means non-harming to ALL living beings.
